It was in the Isle of Skye where I wrote my first tune. The first four notes DC#AG were running through my head as a motif of the landscape. Only later did I discover that the same intervals were used in countless other tunes and many tunes associated with the otherworld such as Port na bPúcaí. The Quarantune was written at my friend’s kitchen table on March 17th 2020, I think we can all remember that strange time! E-B-E is one of my favorite tunes by Liz Carroll.
